WARNING STRONG LANGUAGE IS USED IN THIS EPISODE***

On this episode Adam is joined by Brian Mackenzie. If you have any experience with CrossFit, you’ll likely be familiar with Brian’s work as the founder of CrossFit Endurance.

But Brian’s influence is far from limited to the fire breathing CrossFit community and since moving on to start Power Speed Endurance (PSE) it’s obvious he’s just getting started. His latest area of emphasis has immense potential for our community and focuses on a topic rarely, if ever, discussed in the hunting world. This is a podcast you won’t want to miss.

As a human movement and performance expert Brian’s true specialty lies in finding unconventional, and often disruptive, solutions to impediments to achieving maximum potential, whatever your goal may be. As someone that has never been shy to tell it likes he sees it, Brian has made a name as a thought provoking and outspoken expert in the training and performance world.

This episode however is about so much more than training and you will not want to miss the second half of the discussion that dives into a topic that could literally change how you handle yourself in the backcountry.

On this episode, Adam is joined by his good friend and hunting partner Matt Thompson as they conduct a post-hunt “Hot Wash” based on their recent trip into the mountains of Northern BC.

The Hot Wash is a mainstay of many elite level military and law-enforcement units. It is a disciplined exercise where the successes, failures and observations borne out of a given endeavor are reviewed and discussed so the team (or individual) can constantly refine and improve upon their performance on every level.

Tune in to hear Adam and Matt dig into their top lessons, observations and takeaways from this successful backpack hunt in the storied Cassiar Mountains.

On this episode, Adam is joined by a truly unique and passionate individual with a fascinating family history.

Robbie Kroger may not be a name you’re familiar with but after this podcast there’s a good chance you’ll be following his work closely. Robbie’s bloodline is one steeped in hunting history and tradition, and yet, his journey to finally become a hunter was not what you’d expect.

From his upbringing in South Africa to his professional life in the US, Robbie has followed a unique and divergent path that has led to the launch of an incredibly exciting venture he is spearheading: BLOOD ORIGINS.

If a passion for hunting runs in your blood, you will not want to miss this one!

On this episode, Adam is joined by Kevin Guillen and Courtney Denham from Wilderness Athlete to discuss the recent launch of their new Paleo(ish) line of products.

This is not merely a product discussion however. Adam and the Wilderness Athlete crew spend a good portion of the show trying to make sense of the often confusing and misleading BS that pervades the diet, nutrition and supplement business and do their best to take a moderate view of making sound nutritional decisions.

Whether you’re a nutritional geek or not, this episode will be sure to enlighten and entertain. And be sure to check out the Wilderness Athlete Journal, an invaluable source of nutrition, training and healthy lifestyle content!

On this episode, Adam will be doing a read of an article that was—until recently—exclusively available in the new print edition of The Journal of Mountain Hunting. To view a FREE digital sample of the article please visit the link below or go to www.journalofmountainhunting.com and click on the SHOP tab and scroll down to the VIEW TEASER section at the bottom of the page.

The article itself includes lists and illustrations of the equipment and knots discussed in this podcast so be sure to check it out after listening to the show.

If you’re a dedicated mountain hunter, you can handle yourself in the backcountry. But there is one vastly underappreciated skillset that is lacking in our community: rope handling and knot skills.

If you prefer to chase sheep, goats and mule deer in the alpine then at some point in your hunting career, you’re likely to find yourself in a position where the tools and skills covered in this podcast (and article) could save your hunt, and maybe even your life.

This is a short but highly informative episode featuring a proven system and skillset for handling less than ideal situations in the backcountry.
